Gateway
is regarded as the largest shopping centre in the Southern
hemisphere. It is located in Umhlanga alongside the N2 highway,
north of Durban. The shopping mall officially opened in 2001.
Gateway
is billed as a `Theatre of Shopping` aiming to offer visitors much
more than an average shopping precinct. There are a wide range of
shops, including internationally known fashion brands.
Gateway
also contains a surfing wave house, a skate park designed by Tony
Hawk, the world’s highest climbing wall, go-kart track, arcade and
children’s rides

well as a huge selection of shops, department stores, there is a
cinema, The Barnyard Theatre,

a wavehouse and a large food
